Right, so! Since everyone has a blog, I decided it was about time I start my own. I know that you know (or some of you anyway) that I have private blogs, too, but those are -private- for a reason. :P Don't worry, I'm not talking bad about any of you there......much. *innocent*No, seriously, I'm not! Most of you probably don't know me well, even if you're in my group, mainly because I'm a quiet-ish person (yes, yes, I know, hard to believe quiet => mass communication, eh?) But I type a lot, so I guess it compensates.A brief introduction!Me: Karin Chan Khai LingBirthday: 4.8.1990Favourite number: 4 (yes, yes, taboo, but hey, I like 4. It's my house number (44) and my birthdate, so ha!)Favourite colour: OrangeStar sign: Leo! (Leo = likes hot colours = orange is good)Status: Newly legal driver! Muahaha. The driving test yesterday was..cacated, haha. Let me tell you about it.The first time I went for my driving test, I passed on the road but I failed the THREE POINT TURN (argh!) Just because the car stopped too early, I didn't have enough room to turn out of the box, and knocked down a pole. Sigh. I was -so- happy to have passed the slope, which is what everyone is afraid of, only to be foiled..at the 'supposedly' easiest thing in the whole test. I mean, seriously. I -never- had any problems with the three point turn..until today. =.= Okay, so, after much anguish, went for the retake, which was yesterday.I was Putih no.16, which was a good thing as it meant either way we got to finish quite early. (Although it didn't make a difference as my parents were out paying homage to deceased relatives so nobody could fetch me to class in the afternoon). With much trembling, I made it over the slope (joy!) made it through the parking (double joy!) and went for the three point turn....and failed.Again.Guess what happened this time? Smart me, I lifted the clutch too fast, too early, and the engine died. -Somehow-, I don't know how, the eagle-eyed officer caught me and asked me to get out of the car. I was -furious-. Seriously. That would be the SECOND TIME that the effing three point turn has foiled me. I was muttering under my breath as I went to sign the form.He made the failed ones wait while he dispatched the ones who had passed, and when it was finally our turn, he made us all sign the slip, but he didn't mark the failed part yet. There was a Malay girl who had been trying desperately to get out of the parking for a long time, which I had been waiting at before finally moving to another parking space, before she finally failed. The other Chinese girl and I signed our papers quietly, but that Malay girl was pleading with the officer, and he just turned a deaf ear. He threw our ICs back at us and I left, muttering to myself under my breath. (I just can't find it in me to swear, haha. Although minor ones like 'shit' don't count, okay.)So while I was flopped on the table, waiting for my driving instructor to print another retake slip, the instructor got a call from someone. He looked excitedly at me and said, '16 Putih got wor, do you want?' Confused, I went very intelligently, "Huh?" He ushered us out and told me that the officer was offering to pass me if I -ahem- 'persuaded' him. (With 7 green and blue ones.) I was stunned.'So, do you want?''Anything, yes, as long as I pass..'He then grinned and said it was a go, and thus I am a legal driver! (When I get my license, that is). It felt a bit bittersweet that I hadn't managed to pass -legally-, but come on - I failed the most mundane of parts, and both times it had been a technicality. I never had a problem with the three point turn before. The driving instructor asked me if it was 'sayang' that I had to add onto my already substansial driving fee, especially if I had been that close to passing. But at that point, I would have paid just about any (reasonable) amount to escape the stress of worrying about a -third- retake, and the agony of being so close to success (twice!!!) and failing. I could barely get to sleep the night before for worrying about the test! So, I'm waiting for my driving license, and then I shall be legal. Muahahha. Apparently I was one of the lucky ones, because these days most officers have gone straight (not as in the non-gay kind, ahem..which doesn't mean they're gay either!!). Not like they need to stay crooked any more, with all the money they've made all these years, but meh. So thank you, eh, Mr. April Fool? For I assume you had something to do with this. *wink*Officer: You failed.Me: *sigh**15 minutes later*Instructor: You passed!! (with *ahem* conditions)Me: Yay!!See you in class, guys.
