Holidays have officially begun.

Well, they began about a week ago, but I was extremely busy the ENTIRE week (okay, except Monday and Thursday, but really, every day after that!) with various activities. Woei Lin's birthday, going to KLCC, the Cadet gathering thingy, going to be fitted for new glasses..whew.

Firsttly, a birthday shoutout to Woei Lin because she's my bestest friend! (and also because I uh..thought her birthday was on the 24th when it was the 22nd..but we don't have to mention that :D)

HAPPY 19TH BIRTHDAY!!!

You're only a year away from the big 20, so enjoy your last moments of teenagehood!

...okay, I swear it's not as bad as it sounds. :P

There are more pictures on Facebook, but I'm sure you all want to know what the birthday girl looks like. And what we got her!

Sorry, boys, she's taken. :P

We got her this..charm bangle? Actually the kimono had a head, but we chopped it off. *muahahaha*

I like the candle light in this picture. Sadly, I didn't take it. :P

Photo credits go to the Little Blue Mermaid! XD

But yes, many happy returns, and even though I ended up with a splitting headache I hope you enjoyed your day. We were such unlikely seat partners during Form 4..initially I thought we had quite opposing personalities :P But somehow we wound up best friends, 3 years later..and I wouldn't have it any different. :) Thank you for all the times you've spent in class watching me do my finger-dinosaur walk, listening to me sing nursery rhymes, all the times we've gossiped about this, that and the other, and for all the times you helped me collect my work. :P

Thanks for the times you've listened to me and given advice, and even joined the Police Cadets. :P Let me tell you, it was an interesting experience having you there. :P Thanks for comforting me after 'the incident' - I don't even know if you remember it - but I do, and thank you.

May this year be a good year for you! (Hint: Learn to drive :P)

On to other topics..

On Sunday I went to get a new pair of glasses fitted, because my glasses are at least 4 years old now. Initial tests said that my power had increased by 200 and I was like O.O..but then I did the more thorough test, and ended up only my right eye's power increased by 25, while the other didn't at all. So now my power is 350/350.

Which is not bad considering I've been at 200 power since I was 9! Usually your power increases by 25-50 a year.

So, I've been looking around for frames, and Tao and Woei Lin came with me. We found frames like..

Well, not exactly like that, but you get the picture. Plastic frames. I generally abhor plastic frames, but the designs were getting better, I had to admit, and Tao was encouraging me to change my style from the frameless glasses I was previously wearing:

So okay..I tried on a few, and even liked it. Then on Sunday, as I previously said, I went again to the shop and got fitted for a pair.

I went to collect my glasses today..and here they are!

DUM DUM DUM....

HAHAHA. I know the main reaction now is 'Got difference meh?!' Well the answer is 'Yes there is a difference okay!'

These new glasses have yellow-orange metal frames, and have a half-steel frame! Not frameless any more - or pink!

...but other than that yeah la. Not much difference la.

XD

Okay wait! Don't kill me first :P There's a reason why I didn't pick plastic frames. The main fact is that my glasses were light and small, you see. Designed to be unobstructive and purely just to help me see - which is what glasses do! But plastic glasses, they're big and chunky, and are more accessorial (no, I don't know if that's a word) than functional. I'm aware that some companies market glasses as accessories. But to me, the more important and immediate usage is as a visual aid, and I really don't want something huge and heavy hanging off the end of my nose all the time.

No, my parents will not let me get contacts yet. And I still have something wrong with my eye. Slow and steady does the trick. :P

Anyway! Here's the old..

And here's the new!

Okay la really not much difference la. But that's good right? I looked okay with the old glasses, so why depart too much? Why fix something that isn't broken? Glasses aren't cheap, ya know? Better to go with something I like than go with something I'm not sure of and might regret..especially expensive stuff!

Besides, what's important is that I like it. So what if other people don't think it's nice - you're not the one who has to wear this and look in the mirror every day!

Not really the same la! :P

Also, dentist says the earliest the braces can come off is in August. I HOPE. X.x
