Today has not been a good day.

I finished my assignment rather late, considering most of my classmates were talking about how fast they finished it (maybe I'm just dumb or something) despite waking up at 6.

Then, I drove to uni and found a parking space in front of the shaded walkway. But when I opened the door carefully, trying not to hit the other car, I ended up twisting my arm. And it was so painful that after I walked a few steps, I had to sit down and bend double, pressing my arm to my chest until it stopped hurting. Now it still kinda hurts a bit.

Then when I was driving home, it rained, so it took longer...and I was tired.

Then the stupid van for next door was in my place again, so I had to park opposite, and got wet.

Then I'm left all alone at night.

And I still have an assignment to do.

And I couldn't call Tao to ask her if the time was right for Saturday.

Ragh. Bad day, bad day.

I really don't know why I bother going to the dentist with hope any more.

I've been wearing my braces patiently ever since Dec 2007, enduring countless ulcers, bleeding gums, stabbing pains and generally the discomfort and inconvenience of braces in general.

I also hate the elastics.

Then the dentist says in June that it might be able to be removed by August if I'm good and keep wearing my elastics. So I do, and wear them every day like a good girl.

Then I go back in July, and apparently I've been TOO GOOD (wth?!?!) wearing the elastics, and my teeth have moved out too much. So now I have to wear elastics to move them BACK. I cry inside, but not much I can do, so I wear them. The dentist tells me to wear them only until my front teeth move back out again, then stop.

So this month I go back, and the dentist says it's just nice. Great! She takes out the top wire of my braces, muttering something about wearing elastics in a different way, and I am apprehensive but at this point I've worn elastics in so many ways that I'm sure it can't be that bad. At the very least it probably won't be a very strong wire because she doesn't want my front teeth to move in that much.

But NOOOOOO.

After some tweaks she replaces the wire in my mouth, and immediately I can feel that it's a harder, stronger wire than the one before (you learn these things, having worn braces for 2 years...teeth are surprisingly sensitive things) AND she slips when trying to secure the wire to my teeth, and it hurts. Then as if that weren't bad enough, she instructs me to wear the elastics in a way that completely pulls my teeth shut together. I can't open my mouth at all without removing the elastics. Apparently, this is to 'pull my teeth closer together so that I can bite'.

At this point I nearly want to cry. It just seems to be going from bad to worse. She said she would monitor it when I came back in September, and if all goes well she would take it out in October...although considering she said much the same thing in June, I'm not hopeful.

Next month I am just going to go to the dentist with no expectations whatsoever. If it comes off, it comes off, if it doesn't, whatever.

Oh yes, aside from presents that I got (pictures of which I have put up in Facebook) I also got something else..





Introducing..the Sony Ericsson T707!!

Yes I am very excited about it. :P It's the first phone I've ever properly chosen for myself! All my other phones were hand-me-downs. :P

You might be wondering why I didn't choose a touch screen phone, which seems to be all the rage, or even an iPhone. Well, I don't like touch screen phones because they get so dirty (fingerprints everywhere! Eeee) and iPhones are out of my league (but my mom is getting one..sigh T_T).

Anddddd, I like flip phones. :D

When I told my dad I wanted this phone he was like, 'Why Sony Ericsson? Why not Nokia?' Well, the answer to that is simple too..Nokia doesn't make any decent flip phones!

Apparently the T707 was supposed to come out in like 5 colours, but in the end (so far) only 3 made the cut. Something Black, Something Pink (no those aren't their real names) and Lucid Blue.



As you can see, I got blue! xD

On a side note, Blogger is so bloody uncooperative when posting pictures. Every time I put in a new picture I get new spaces between my text, grrr.

I had so much trouble choosing this phone. First I had to decide between W508:


Which only comes in two colours, but apparently you can change the covers to whatever you like. Also, the specs are nearly identical to the T707, and it has Walkman (something to do with sound quality or whatever) and motion gaming (where you tilt the phone and the car you're driving in the game turns right or whatever).

However, to me, all the covers weren't interesting. And they weren't -shiny-. Shiny is a big criteria in stuff I like!
Plus look at the horrible keypad colours..





The blue and grey could have been acceptable..but white and LIME GREEN? Ewwww.

And the phone that I really liked last year, the W980, was now about the same price as this phone. (Last year it was something like 2k!) So I was considering it too.



I mean it was black and orange..:( But it was also Woei Lin's phone, and I didn't want to get the exact same one :P Besides, I compared it and it had a few less features.

Anyway, I ended up deciding on the T707, as I said! And now came to ordering it..
When I wanted to buy the phone, it wasn't out yet in Malaysia. The blue one, at least. All the retailers and shops that I went to only had either the pink or the black one. No blueeee. :( I didn't want to order it at first because I was afraid it wouldn't look as nice as on the website when it got here. But after thinking about it for a week or two, I finally decided to order it from the Sony Centre in 1U. (Fun fact: The first time I went there to see if they had the phone, it was RM999. Two weeks later, when I came back to do the actual ordering, it was RM865. Talk about a price drop!)
They promised me I'd have it by my birthday, which was 3 days away from the time that I placed my order.
Then on Monday, they called me and said I'd only get it by the end of this week, or next, because they'd just placed the order and it probably wouldn't be ready. So fine, I can accept that, it was a rush order.
Two days after that (one day after my birthday) they called me and said I'd have to wait AN ENTIRE MONTH because the warehouse had no stock!! I was like O.O?!?! The guy just said sorry and he would refund my deposit if it was urgent. Disappointed, I told him I'd think about it.
I was on the verge of looking for another phone, or giving in and getting the pink one (which I didn't really want) but luckily for them my Internet died and I couldn't get on to look for a new phone.
Then the next day..
"Hello?"
"Ah, Miss Chan Khai Ling? You ordered the blue T707 right?"
"Yes."
"It's arrived, you can come and pick it up now."
"O.O...ohh. Okay! I'll, uh, come and pick it up later. Thanks!"
Talk about giving me a heart attack.
Anyway, all's well that ends well, and now I have my phone! :D It's preeeeetty. Now I need to get a nice handphone accessory for it! I'm thinking..fluffy xD

It's been a long time since I've blogged, I know. 8 days since I've turned 19 now! To all those that have wished me a happy birthday, thank you. :)

I didn't really expect much this birthday. Past two years, I did birthday parties at my house..this year I just wanted to go out, but Woei Lin went to Korea :( So in the end, (kinda very last minute in the end), I asked my uni mates to go out with me on my birthday, because Tao wasn't free that day (although I did go out with her before, on Monday).

Okay never mind it didn't work. But those who have added me on Facebook, it's in my photos!

Tao and Woei Lin got me cupcakes! :P They were really cute, but also really really sweet. Too much icing sugar @.@ But it was cute to look at though :P And they got me makeup..which um..I will use...sometime in the future xD

There is a kind of present that I (sometimes) gift to people, that I really want for myself, but it seems so pointless to get it done for myself. If you can get that for me, and make it nice (:P) I will love you forever~~!!

It's not something abstract, in case you're wondering. :P I've told a few people about it but not many.

But anyway.

Then I went out on Tuesday, with a bunch of uni mates, to Sunway Pyramid. It was really the first time such a huge group of us (ok it was more like 6-7, but still) had gone out together, so I wasn't really sure what to expect.

We watched Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, because I'd already watched The Proposal, which was really the only movie worth watching that was showing at that time. (The Proposal isn't really worth your money, in my opinion - it's the sort of movie you'd download instead of watching in cinemas) and while it's no Transformers, it wasn't half bad either, which was more than I had hoped for.

Then we went to Kim Gary to eat, and I had the birthday discount voucher (50% off for the entire bill!) and by some lucky chance, we had exactly 6 people! We ended up paying a grand total of RM44 for a 6-person meal. XD And I paid..so when I collected the money from them I almost collected the original amount..I would have had 40 bucks extra xD

After that we decided to go on and go bowling..something I haven't done for a really, really long time! I forgot how much I missed it. :P It was tons of fun - and I even got a strike! xD

And finally, we decided to go take the sticker photos (apparently called purikura in Japanese..what a funny name) and somehow squeezed all 6 of us in a photo xD Decorating the photos was lots of fun..I changed everyone's hair colour XP

At night I went to eat Sushi Zanmai with my parents...and had a huge cup of really yummy ice cream that I somehow managed to finish. I love that ice cream. *drools*

And cut the birthday cake (chocolate) at night! My mom somehow managed to delete all the pictures of that, so no pictures =.= But if you go to Cake Sense you'll probably see it anyway.

Despite low expectations I had a great birthday, with both new friends and old. :) Thank you everyone for making it a wonderful day!
